Situation

KACO GmbH + Co. KG, a subsidiary of the ZhongDing Group, is one of the world's leading developers and manufacturers of high-precision, application-oriented sealing solutions for the automotive and supplier industry.

As a close partner to the automotive and supplier industry, the company has kept pace with the high demands and technical changes in the industry for decades.

One of the 6 production plants of KACO Dichtungstechnik GmbH & CoKG is located in beautiful St. Michael im Lungau. In production, sealing parts are produced for the automotive industry. This requires high-precision machines and conscientious and good employees.

Problem

The deburring and drying of certain sealing components takes place in a dedicated room of approx. 100m² that is separated from the rest of the production. In this room there are 4 large machines and of course many small shelves for storing the incoming and outgoing products. It's relatively cramped and there's little room to "edit" certain sound sources.

At a constant 87 dB(A), the noise level in this room is too high to provide the employees working there with a pleasant workplace. Room separators and enclosures were out of the question for the company for intralogistic reasons. These soundproofing elements would always have had a massive impact on the production process at one point or another.

Solution

The walls and ceiling were covered with highly absorbent acoustic absorbers in order to reduce the echoes in the room and to achieve a generally lower sound level in the room through absorption. 10-15cm thick foam was applied to the walls and ceiling in such a way that it does not disturb the production processes and reduces the overall noise level.

Result

The sound level outside of this 100m² production room was reduced with 7 dB(A).
A clearly audible result was achieved, which will have a very positive effect on the employees' ability to concentrate.

The production processes were not disturbed in any way and KACO did not have to change its internal processes.
