- Acoustic Ceiling Baffles for Open Office Sound Control
Acoustic Ceiling Baffles for Open Office Sound Control

Project Overview
ActivTrades, a busy trading company in Sofia operating in an open-plan office faced a familiar problem: poor call quality and constant overlap of conversations. The large, open space was filled with hard surfaces, including glass walls that reflected sound and made it tough to focus.
To solve the noise and improve speech clarity for calls, the company turned to DECIBEL. The solution: installing acoustic ceiling baffles, a targeted fix for the constant humming and echo that comes with open spaces.
Why Acoustic Treatment Matters
In open offices, background noise from conversations and poor sound isolation can ruin even the best call center technology. Echo and reverberation muddy speech, causing stress and dropped focus. Ceiling baffles absorb this excess noise, making it easier to hear and be heard, crucial for teams that rely on calls to do their work.
Challenge
The office already had a suspended ceiling, but it wasn’t enough, as many people often believe it is. The space was dominated by glass, amplifying every sound and causing significant reverberation.
Lighting design was also a concern. Any acoustic treatment needed to avoid interfering with light placement and maintain the clean, modern look of the office.
Scope of Work
- On-site assessment and acoustic analysis
- Selection of a color finish from the DECIBEL palette for visual harmony
- Production and delivery of high-efficiency acoustic ceiling baffles
- Careful installation that didn’t interfere with existing lighting fixtures
Solution
DECIBEL installed ceiling baffles designed for maximum acoustic absorption. These baffles work on both faces, with no glue on the back, so each panel acts like two absorbers in one. This double-effect approach made them particularly effective in controlling noise levels in the open-plan space.
The panels were installed in a layout that maintained light flow while addressing the echo from glass and hard surfaces. The result was a quieter, more focused environment, without changing the modern look of the office.
Result
The new acoustic environment dramatically improved call quality and reduced conversation overlap. Staff immediately noticed clearer speech and better concentration across the trading floor. The color finish of the baffles blended perfectly into the interior design, combining function with a warm, understated look.
