Acoustic Desk Screens at Forthnet HQ, Athens

Project Overview

Forthnet is the company that became a leader in internet and pay-TV services in Greece, is now one of the country’s leading providers of home entertainment and communication solutions. When upgrading its Athens headquarters, Forthnet focused on improving the acoustic environment of its open-plan office spaces.

To support that goal, DECIBEL partnered with our Greek distributor Group Science to deliver and install a custom acoustic solution. The project combined acoustic desk screens and hanging baffles, targeting common noise issues found in large office layouts.

Why Acoustic Treatment Matters

Open-plan offices encourage collaboration, but they often come with a downside: constant background noise. Without proper sound control, conversations, typing, and phone calls echo across the space, making it harder for people to focus or communicate.

Desk-mounted acoustic screens and overhead baffles help block and absorb unwanted noise. They create a sense of privacy, improve speech clarity, and lower distractions, leading to a more productive and comfortable workday.

Challenge

Forthnet needed a solution that would reduce acoustic distractions without altering the open feel of their workspace. The treatment had to blend into the existing office layout while delivering clear, functional results. Given the daily activity within the space, the installation also had to be quick and clean.

Scope of Work

• Delivery and installation of acoustic office desk screens across employee workstations

Solution

DECIBEL provided sound-absorbing desk screens, engineered to block noise between workstations positioned next to each other and create acoustic shadow zones. These screens reduce voice transmission while visually maintaining the open space dynamic.

To further deal with ambient noise and reverberation, we installed hanging acoustic baffles above the workspace. These suspended elements absorb sound reflections from ceilings, lowering overall noise levels across the room.

Both the screens and baffles were selected to match the office’s design and meet Forthnet’s expectations for comfort and performance.

Result

The upgrade delivered noticeable improvements in speech privacy, noise control, and employee focus. The combination of desk-level barriers and ceiling absorption balanced the room’s acoustic profile without the need for structural changes. The Forthnet team now works in a space that supports both collaboration and concentration.
