Project Overview

A client contacted DECIBEL with a request to improve the acoustics of their reception room, which regularly hosts a high number of visitors. The goal was to reduce noise levels and improve sound clarity, creating a more comfortable environment for both staff and guests.

After conducting a detailed on-site inspection, DECIBEL proposed a complete acoustic treatment solution using wall panels and ceiling baffles. The project was completed in less than three weeks.

Improving Acoustics in a Busy Reception Area

Reception areas are often loud, with many people speaking, moving, or waiting in a shared space. High ceilings, hard walls, and flat surfaces can cause echo and noise build-up. This makes communication difficult and creates an uncomfortable experience for visitors and staff.

In this case, the client needed an effective acoustic solution that would reduce noise while also fitting into the interior design of the space.

Key Considerations for Acoustic Treatment in Reception Spaces

Reception rooms often have hard surfaces that reflect sound and increase noise. For areas with high foot traffic and frequent conversations, using acoustic panels and ceiling baffles helps reduce echo, improve speech clarity, and create a calm and welcoming atmosphere.

Textile materials are soft and effective for sound absorption, especially in busy environments where comfort and communication matter.

Challenge

The main challenge was to provide a quick and effective solution for a high-traffic reception area. The system had to be functional, improve acoustic comfort, and match the interior design. It was also important that the installation be completed without causing major disruption to daily work.

Scope of Work

  • On-site inspection and precise measurement of the space
  • Calculation of the required acoustic treatment
  • Presentation of multiple design previews to help with colour and layout choices
  • Production, delivery, and installation of acoustic panels and baffles
  • Completion of the full project in less than three weeks

Solution

DECIBEL proposed a solution that included Beelive Acoustic Textile Panels for the walls and Echo Wave Acoustic Hanging Textile Baffles for the ceiling. These products were selected for their strong sound absorption performance and clean, modern appearance.

Our engineer assessed the space in detail and calculated the number and placement of panels and baffles needed. We presented several layout options with different colours to help the client choose the best look. Once approved, we moved quickly to manufacture and install the system.

Result

The installation of the acoustic panels and baffles was completed in under three weeks. The selected products were installed in key areas to absorb sound effectively and reduce echo. The result was a quieter and more pleasant reception space, making it easier for staff to communicate and improving the visitor experience.

The client was very satisfied with the improved acoustic environment and the speed and professionalism of the installation.
