- Acoustic Treatment for a Hybrid Office at Ucha.se
Acoustic Treatment for a Hybrid Office at Ucha.se

Project Overview
In 2019, the team at Ucha.se reached out to DECIBEL with a special request. They needed to improve the acoustics of a room used both as a modern office and a voice recording studio. The goal was to reduce echo and make the space suitable for clear meetings and high-quality voice recordings.
The acoustic treatment project took place at Ucha.se’s headquarters in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Why Acoustic Treatment Matters
Most offices today are designed for style and function, but not for sound. Hard surfaces like glass, concrete, or plaster reflect noise, causing echo and poor speech clarity. In studios, even a small amount of reverb can ruin a recording.
When a room is used for both meetings and voice recording, sound problems become even more complex. Acoustic treatment is the only way to manage noise, reduce echo, and improve how the space sounds for both talking and recording.
Challenge
The main challenge was the room’s mixed purpose. For voice recordings, the space needed to block most reflections and sound “dry.” For meetings and everyday work, however, it had to support natural speech and allow comfortable communication.
This balance is hard to achieve. Too much sound absorption would make the office feel dull. Too little would leave recordings full of reverb. The solution had to meet both needs at the same time, without changing the room’s look or layout.
Scope of Work
- Acoustic assessment of the room
- Design plan for dual-use acoustic treatment
- Selection of sound-absorbing materials
- Placement calculations for even sound control
- Installation of wall and ceiling panels
Solution
DECIBEL designed a custom treatment using acoustic panels that reduce echo while keeping the space sounding natural. Wall panels and ceiling absorbers were installed based on exact acoustic calculations. The setup allowed the room to support clear conversation and clean vocal recordings.
The design stayed simple and modern, blending with the existing furniture and lighting.
Result
After the installation, Ucha.se could use the space for both purposes with no sound issues. Meetings became clearer, and voice recordings no longer needed heavy editing. The sound was balanced, and the atmosphere remained welcoming and professional.
