Executive Summary

Florever Europe GmbH, renowned for manufacturing precision plastic tubs, faced a noise challenge in their production hall due to a CNC-controlled saw. Operating at over 85 dB(A), this noise hindered the concentration of the workforce. Learn how we tackled this issue and achieved a remarkable 30 dB(A) noise reduction.

Scope of Work

  • Measurement of the current acoustic conditions in the production hall, including peak and average sound levels
  • Development of a concept to construct an enclosure around the CNC machine, allowing its operation while shielding the rest of the hall from excessive noise

Challenge

The introduction of a CNC-controlled saw significantly increased automation but led to disruptive noise levels exceeding 85 dB(A) throughout the production hall. The challenge was to reduce this noise while maintaining operational efficiency.

Solution

Our approach focused on addressing noise at the source:

  • Constructed an enclosure using 10cm thick PZP perforated panels made of galvanised and RAL-coloured sheet steel
  • Integrated two sliding doors made of galvanized sheet steel and a viewing window
  • Installed an air conditioner and a fan to enhance air quality within the enclosure

Result

The outcome of our project was a remarkable reduction in noise levels, achieving a 30 dB(A) decrease from the CNC saw to the production hall. This not only provided a more conducive working environment for employees but also maintained efficient intralogistics routes for the company.

This project exemplifies the significance of addressing noise issues at their source. Effective soundproofing solutions can improve employee well-being and operational efficiency simultaneously.
