Soundproofing a Bedroom Wall for Peaceful Sleep

Project Overview
A quiet bedroom is essential for quality sleep, yet many residents struggle with noise transmission from neighbouring rooms. In this residential project, DECIBEL addressed noise traveling from a living room into an adjacent bedroom by prescribing a tailored soundproofing solution.
Challenge
The dividing wall between the bedroom and the living room allowed noise to pass through, disrupting sleep and reducing acoustic comfort. The client needed a solution that would significantly improve sound insulation without altering the interior layout.
Scope of Work
-
Acoustic consultation and on-site noise assessment.
-
Recommendation of a suitable soundproofing system.
-
Installation of MUTE SYSTEM 33 on the bedroom wall.
-
Integration of bitumen membrane into the system for enhanced noise reduction.
-
Pre- and post-installation acoustic measurements.
Solution
DECIBEL installed MUTE SYSTEM 33 panels along the wall dividing the bedroom and living room. A soundproofing bitumen membrane was also applied to the panels to enhance performance. This combination effectively targeted the critical frequencies most likely to disrupt sleep.
Result
Acoustic measurements taken before treatment showed a noise insulation index of 50 dB. After the installation of MUTE SYSTEM 33, the index improved to 59 dB, a significant gain in noise reduction, resulting in a peaceful and comfortable sleeping environment.
In residential soundproofing, even minor improvements in decibel reduction can drastically impact wellbeing. Bedrooms, in particular, require precise and effective solutions due to the heightened sensitivity of the human ear during sleep. Projects like this one underscore the importance of tailored treatment for optimal living comfort.
