Soundproofing for C'est la vie club in Sofia

Project Overview
C’est la Vie is one of the most exclusive restaurants and nightclubs in Sofia. The venue is open for lunch and dinner and transforms into a live music club in the evening, featuring well-known performers from Bulgaria and Greece.
To ensure the comfort of nearby residents and meet city noise regulations, the owners requested a high-performance sound insulation system that would prevent music from escaping the club when the windows are closed.
DECIBEL was selected to design and install the necessary soundproofing systems across all critical walls and surfaces in the venue.
High-Performance Sound Insulation for a Live Music Venue
Live music venues require effective sound insulation to keep noise from escaping into the surrounding environment. In this case, the club operates in both daytime and nighttime hours, so blocking sound transmission was essential for uninterrupted service and compliance with regulations.
The client’s goal was clear, it was when the windows are shut, no music should be heard outside the building.
Challenge
The main challenge was to design and install a complete soundproofing system that matched the layout of the club, including areas with limited space, such as staircases. The system had to deliver excellent sound insulation across all structural surfaces without affecting the interior space too much. One of the staircases had a reduced width, requiring the use of a thinner system while maintaining high performance.
Scope of Work
- On-site inspection and acoustic planning
- Design of a double-layered sound insulation system for party walls and ceilings
- Selection and installation of MUTE SYSTEM 63 in areas with limited space
- Full installation across the entire club interior
- Final measurements of acoustic performance after project completion
Solution
DECIBEL engineers designed a double-layered sound insulation system made up of a metal stud wall placed over a special dampening layer. This design helped reduce sound transmission through the structure by isolating vibrations from the frame to the parent walls and ceilings.
In narrower areas, such as the staircase, MUTE SYSTEM 63 was installed. This is a thinner version of DECIBEL’s sound insulation systems, chosen for its space-saving design and high acoustic performance.
The full installation was completed over a two-month period and included all necessary finishing work to integrate the system with the interior design.
Result
After installation, detailed measurements were performed to assess the acoustic performance of the space. The results showed that the sound insulation levels exceeded the original project requirements. When the windows are closed, no music is heard from outside the club.
The project successfully delivered both functional and regulatory goals, allowing C’est la Vie to offer live music without disturbing the surrounding environment.
