Acoustic Treatment for Work Better Booths

Project Overview

The client Work Better contacted DECIBEL again to provide acoustic treatment for 30 phone booths in their new co-working building, Work Better 2. The booths were spread across multiple floors and designed to give users privacy for calls and small meetings without the need for large conference rooms.

Acoustic Privacy for Co-Working Spaces

Open-plan offices and co-working spaces often struggle with noise and a lack of privacy. Phone booths provide a flexible solution, but without proper acoustic treatment, they cannot block out surrounding sound or deliver comfortable speech clarity inside. In this project, DECIBEL worked with the architect to ensure that each booth not only performed acoustically but also matched the design vision of each floor.

Challenge

The building had many phone booths across different levels, and each floor had its own interior style and color scheme. The acoustic panels needed to be custom-made and installed with precision to fit slight differences in booth construction. Power outlets also had to be integrated seamlessly to keep the clean and modern look.

Scope of Work

• Coordination with the architect and design team
• Design of custom Echo Wall Panels for 30 booths across all floors
• On-site cutting and adjustments to fit booth construction
• Installation of black outlet covers for a consistent and smooth finish
• Delivery and installation were completed without interrupting other interior works

Solution

DECIBEL created and installed custom Echo Wall Panels for each booth, ensuring full wall coverage and a precise fit. The panels were cut and adjusted on-site to account for differences in construction across floors. Black outlet covers were used again to integrate power access while maintaining a neat visual result. Each booth was adapted to the specific style of its floor, combining effective acoustic treatment with the architect’s design vision.

Result

The phone booths at Work Better 2 are now used hundreds of times each day, offering clear speech privacy and comfort for users. The client was once again highly satisfied, noting the balance of acoustic performance and design consistency throughout the building. This project strengthened DECIBEL’s ongoing partnership with Work Better.
