Project Overview
DECIBEL completed a residential soundproofing project in a private apartment, where the main concern was noise transmission from a neighbouring unit. The goal was to improve the sonic experience without compromising usable space.
To achieve this, DECIBEL applied its in-house developed MUTE systems, which offer high performance in a minimal thickness, ideal for residential applications where every centimetre counts.
Challenge
The apartment required effective sound insulation across both walls and ceilings to mitigate unwanted noise from the adjacent property. The challenge was to achieve significant noise reduction while preserving as much interior space as possible, critical in residential settings.

Solution
Both solutions were chosen for their compact profile and proven efficiency. The MUTE product line (engineered by DECIBEL’s R&D department) uses advanced thin-film materials to deliver high-performance sound insulation in thicknesses of just 23, 33, or 63 mm. This made it ideal for the residential space, where reducing impact on interior dimensions was a top priority.
Result
The client experienced a noticeable reduction in airborne noise from the neighbouring apartment. The treatment was completed with minimal loss of space, maintaining the apartment’s layout and comfort while significantly enhancing acoustic privacy.
